"Silversmithing for a Change" workshops

and tools as a birthday present for her sister.
Groups can make a collective piece
or make their own individual pieces of jewellery.

My career background is in the field of Community Learning and Development. I specialise in designing, organising and delivering adult education for disadvantaged groups in both the UK and internationally. I currently work for a local authority, and have worked extensively in the voluntary sector, and in higher education.

I work with a wide range of social groups experiencing difficulties and inequality eg women, homeless young adults, people living in remote areas and disadvantaged urban areas, people experiencing physical and mental ill-health, ex-offenders and people at risk of offending, older adults, people with literacy and numeracy needs, people experiencing prejudice and discrimination, and people who have survived abuse, trauma and disaster.

I also work with a wide range of groups who may not be experiencing any current difficulties, but are keen to discover silversmithing and expand their own skills.

I work from the belief that group work that focuses on working together to develop new skills and interests can assist people to improve their concentration, increase their self-confidence and social skills, and their ability to look outwards and move forwards to change and improve their lives.

My style is welcoming, friendly, supportive and encouraging, based on Transformative Education theory and practice (bell hooks / Augusto Boal / Paulo Freire).
